🤼 Body Fat Calculator
This tool estimates your body fat percentage with the U.S. Navy formula. All you need is a tape measure, so you can easily do it at home.
📌 Waist: at the level of your navel / Neck: just below the back of the head / Hips: at the widest point
📈 Body Fat Chart
| Category | Men | Women | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| 🟢 Essential fat | 2~5% | 10~13% | The minimum fat the body needs to function |
| 🔴 Athlete | 6~13% | 14~20% | Best range for athletic performance |
| 🔴 Healthy | 14~17% | 21~24% | A healthy body fat range |
| 🟡 Average | 18~24% | 25~31% | A typical level |
| 🔴 Obese | 25% or more | 32% or more | Higher risk of chronic disease |
💡 A note for seniors: For people 65 and older, a body fat level a little higher than the chart for younger adults may still be normal. Keeping your muscle is just as important as managing body fat.
📝 How to Measure
- Neck — Wrap the tape level around your neck, just below the back of the head (the base of the skull). In front, it goes just below the Adam's apple.
- Waist — Measure at the level of your navel, after breathing out gently. (Men: the narrowest point above the navel)
- Hips (women) — Measure level around the widest part, as seen from the side.
- When to measure — Measure in the morning after you get up, before eating, and at the same time each time. This shows your changes over time more accurately.
